Application for Membership

Dues are $25.00 annually. Payment due upon application approval.

General Requirements
Lawyers who are legal advisors to any law enforcement agency in the State of Florida are qualified for membership. Legal advisors are defined as those members of The Florida Bar who advise law enforcement agencies on legal matters and who do not engage in the practice of criminal law as it pertains to criminal defense, or in the practice of civil law as it pertains to initiation or pursuit of actions against law enforcement agencies or law enforcement officers in connection with the performance of official duties. This restriction must be met by the attorney and every member of their firm.

The Florida Association of Police Attorneys, Inc. is comprised of two classes of membership:

Active Member
Any legal advisor who devotes a majority of his or her professional time to advising or representing a Florida law enforcement agency on matters of criminal law or the administration of criminal justice, whether or not employed by the law enforcement agency, shall be eligible for consideration for active membership in the Association. Privileges of active membership include:

1. attendance at quarterly meetings
2. placement on the FAPA mailing list
3. copy of membership roster
4. access to legal research provided to FAPA by members
5. voting on FAPA matters coming before the membership.

Associate Member
Any former legal advisor as defined herein who is voted into Associate membership for such term and under such conditions as determined by the active members. Associate members are not entitled to vote on matters coming before the membership.
